The Japanese may be known to value their stoic, strictly business professionalism, but experts that really know what they’re doing have the emotional luxury to have fun while still being unparalleled masters at what they do. The video “The Professional of Japan” is proof of this, and shows a compilation of footages showing the expert skills of Japanese professionals in various fields.
“The Professional of Japan” was created as a commercial for the new Nissan Caravan, a van that is used by architects, artisans, and other professionals. The video shows the epic skills of Japanese craftsmen such as woodworkers shaving a large block of wood into 0.008 millimeter-thin strips, a woman carrying an enormous stack of styrofoam boxes without breaking a sweat, and a truck driver unloading logs in mere seconds.

The commercial doesn’t just show the masterful techniques that the featured professionals have acquired through hard, efficient labor. It also shows that professionalism doesn’t necessarily equate to seriousness, and that sometimes, work is best done with the right amount of playfulness.
