Don’t have a vase? An easy throw-away plastic bottle will do, but it might look dull under the pretty plants or flowers. But thanks to a traditional Japanese sushi dish, the squid sashimi, Japanese designer Hiroshi Kajimoto was inspired during a casual sushi meal to create a collection of stunning paper vases. The unique design is called Kami No Tsubo, which literally means "Paper Vase," and is made by incising narrow slits into a flat-pack sheet and pushing it down to achieve an elegant three-dimensional shape.

The paper vases are born out of the basic idea of shaping two-dimensional objects into three-dimensional forms. The simplicity of the concept allows vast experimentation with skinny or chubby vases!
