Marking the 20th anniversary since its release, Hayao Miyazaki's critically acclaimed Studio Ghibli classic Princess Mononoke will be returning to U.S. theaters this January as part of a collaborative effort between GKIDS and Fathom Events. The theatrical re-release will include include showings on Thursday, January 5 (English Subtitles) and Monday, January 9 (English Dubbed) only. As with the recent 15th anniversary theatrical re-release of Spirited Away, an exclusive short will be shown along with the film. This time it will be the 1995 music video of “On Your Mark,” (performed by Japanese rock artists Chage & Aska) directed by Hayao Miyazaki, which has never been released in North America.
It's worth mentioning that although only two screenings are advertised, the same was done for the Spirited Away re-release, which was so successful (it grossed over $800K on just the first day), a third day was added.
Details about the event can be found here, and a list of participating theaters and ticket information can be found here.
