February 2nd marks one of Japan's informal holidays, Twintail Day. While it may not be as exciting as "Bunnies vs. Panties day", it is celebrated the same way. Twintail Day originates from the date of celebration (2/2), where the duality of the calendar date reflects the hairstyle so adored in Japan that it spawned an actual bed. While much of "celebrating" consists of idols, cosplayers, and other celebrities taking to Twitter sporting the popular hairdo in Japan, don't be surprised if you encounter more twintails than usual should you ever be in Japan on February 2nd.

Here is a roundup of some of the more popular twintail pics circulating Japanese social media.
