Friendships often blossom in unexpected situations, and Japanese Twitter user @koumai_jp was certainly not prepared to share a heartwarming bond with an enemy he had set out to fight to the death. One day while playing online game H1Z1: King of the Kill, in which players have to battle it out until there’s only one left standing, @koumai_jp ran into another gamer from Miami who he first thought of as nothing more than an easy kill.

Seeing as how “Miami” had no weapons, @koumai_jp could have just shot him. But instead, he chased him around in circles and asked where he was from. After finding out he was from Miami, he shared that he was from Japan, to which Miami said,

”Oh, dude, I love Japan!”

@koumai_jp was suddenly overcome with a surge of camaraderie and affection for the weaponless Miami, and decided to leave him with an item instead of pulling the trigger.

A few minutes later they found each other again, only this time it was Miami who came and offered @koumai_jp a body armor as a thank-you gift. They wished each other luck, and went their separate ways.

”You killed Japan!!!”

Yet as @koumai_jp lamented his own death, a familiar figure ran out in chase of his killer, screaming “You killed Japan!!!” In a few shots he was dead too, but his touching act of vengeance turned their unexpected friendship into one that @koumai_jp vowed to never forget.
