No matter how or where your musical career begins, there is always some appeal in walking down a red carpet. For comedian alter-ego Piko-Taro, who gathered over 14 million views on YouTube with the viral hit PPAP, just performing at Japan's Year-end Song Festival was a dream come true. So a chance to actually visit Los Angeles for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards and rub shoulders with big shots like Beyonce, Adele, Bruno Mars, and Justin Bieber (who Piko Taro owes a bit of success to) was a no-brainer.

There are still many Japanese people who still don't quite get how PPAP became popular around the world, but even more surprising to them has been seeing the warm receptions and glowing fan reactions Piko-Taro is getting as he makes his way around.

A kid magnet.

While Japanese social media users were happy to see him garner attention overseas, many also voiced their jealousy for just how much of an attention magnet he seemed to be.

PPAP on the red carpet!

During his red carpet interview, he praised Bruno Mars, citing a style similar to his favorite musician Prince, as well as Daft Punk, as the comedian's interest in DJing comes via their inspiration.
