With the abundance of mesmerizing sightseeing spots the country has to offer, deciding where to visit in Japan can be quite difficult. But if you're looking to spend a relaxing week or so traveling through a stretch of area thriving with nature, history, and traditional Japanese culture, driving up the Route Romantique San'in highway might be your idea of the perfect trip.

Route Romantique San'in passes through the 3 prefectures of Tottori, Shimane, and Yamaguchi, boasting sceneries of the Sea of Japan on one side and the Chugoku Mountains on the other. Those traveling on this highway can stop by famous destinations like the Tottori Sand Dunes, Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine, Yunotsu Hot Spring, and the Uradome Coast. Known as one of the most historic areas in Japan, visitors will discover cultural remnants of ancient times still existing within the modern lives of the locals.

In an effort to compel more tourists to head over to San'in, the San'in Tourism Organization created a 3-minute promotional video in 4K, taking audiences on a virtual trip over the myriad landmarks accessible from the highway. The video, which was shot entirely with a drone, has gotten over an astonishing 2.6 million views so far from viewers worldwide; but considering the breathtaking sceneries awaiting visitors who decide to make the journey, perhaps it isn't all that surprising.
