Their soft feathers and beautiful colors are just some of the reasons why Java sparrows are a popular household pet, but another one of their "charm points," as they say in Japan, has had Japanese SNS users falling in love with them all over again.

Endearingly referred to as "mochi Java sparrows," the appearance of a Java sparrow's relaxed state has often been likened to a plump piece of mochi; according to bird owners in Japan, as the Java sparrows lower their bodies and place their bellies flat on the ground, they bear a strong resemblance to the round rice cake snacks.

Knowing something so soft and adorable exists in the world, it seems almost natural that Japanese online retailer Felissimo, who are known for their charmingly whimsical goods, would turn these mochi Java sparrows into an everyday product. And now with the Mochi Java Sparrow Soft Mini Pouches, anyone can carry a flock of soft little birds everywhere they go.

You can see the resemblance when compared with an actual mochi.
