From cat to bunny-shaped toasts, we thought we'd seen it all when it came to unconventional bread loaves. Turns out we were dead wrong, as a summery version of the typical square loaves has recently been created by the Daimaru Matsuzakaya department store in Japan.

For 2,592 yen (USD$23), bread-lovers can put their favorite spread over a piece of watermelon bread. Apparently, they're made to have a subtle watermelon flavor when they're heated, but some buyers have commented that in contrast to their bright and fruity appearance, they actually just taste like an ordinary loaf of bread.

Needless to say, the watermelon bread has become a huge hit on Instagram.
