From Respect for the Age Day to Mountain Day, Japan celebrates at least one public holiday during 11 of the 12 months throughout the year. The most recent holiday was Marine Day, which is celebrated on the third Monday of July. And while every resident took advantage of their day(s) off in their own ways, shoe fanatics got the chance to commemorate this year's Marine Day with a brand new pair of Ukiyoe-Style sneakers from Puma.

This isn't the first time sportswear brands have released beautifully designed sneakers — we've previously seen sakura-embellished sneakers from Asics and Onitsuka Tiger, as well as Nintendo-themed sneakers from Vans. But this time, the focal point of the sneakers is their traditional Japanese art-inspired design, which many have noted is reminiscent of the works of legendary artist Katsushika Hokusai.

Puma has released 3 models of sneakers for the new collection titled the PUMA Marine Pack, along with t-shirts and jackets of the same blue-and-white color scheme. It's the little details of the artwork that make these limited edition pieces all the more special, as they feature the ukiyoe style design in a more subtle way.
