Cosplay is a truly creative way to pay homage to all the iconic characters that have graced the world with their unique stories. Not only do cosplayers dress up to look like them physically, they proudly wear their quirks and characteristics in an attempt to recreate the realm of the characters as faithfully as possible. As a professional photographer, artist, cosplayer, and all-around creative powerhouse, Hawaii-born Japanese-American artist Dallas Nagata White is certainly no different. With a passion for pop culture, video games, comics, and movies, she often photographs cosplayers in her professional style as they try to convey the spirit of any given character through the camera lens.

This was definitely the case in her Princess Mononoke cosplay photoshoot, which she did alongside cosplayer Dasha Cosplay. As Dasha Cosplay posed as San in a lush forest of trees, the two captured the magic of the popular Studio Ghibli film. Of course, photographing San without the wolf gods wouldn’t be complete, so they also had the helping paw of Kodachrome, Dallas’ adorable Japanese Spitz. The resulting shots were those even Miyazaki himself would be proud of.

Currently, Dallas’ main focus is on cosplay photography, sewing costumes, and illustration. She revealed to grape Japan that her head is always filled with ideas, and she tries to turn those ideas into actions that can be enjoyed by the rest of the world. She’s also studying fashion design in order to one day have her own fashion line inspired by science fiction and fantasy, which sounds as exciting an endeavor as her beautiful photoshoots.
