Check Out Tokyo’s Latest and Craziest Halloween Party Scene

As Halloween becomes more and more accepted in Japan, the Halloween party scene is getting more interesting and new options are breaking out. We're not just talking about the chaotic free-for-all that you'll encounter in Shibuya, although some of the costumes are very inventive. We're not even talking about the Roppongi scene with Halloween parties in the clubs. The latest and craziest Halloween party scene is in Kabukicho. What better place to paint the town red than Japan's most famous red light and entertainment district!

Six night clubs got together this year to create a Halloween mega-party like no other, Kabukicho Halloween Music Circuit! It all happened from the late hours of Friday, October 20th to the earlier morning of Saturday, October 21st. This Halloween extravaganza featured live music events, DJ events spinning hip-hop, J-pop, anime songs and EDM, karaoke events, crossdressing events, fashion shows, and more, all wrapped up in one amazing party!

Greeting partygoers in the clubs and out in the streets circulating between all six locations were the KabuHallo guides:

Here's some of the procession going between clubs:

Our reporting staff began at the party's hub, Club Science, where central organizing event PariPism usually holds their regular DJ events featuring anime songs, J-pop and EDM. The crowd was already packed with party people in all kinds of cosplay and Halloween costumes.

Not to be outdone, the PariPism girls put on their best zombie look:

As we made our way to the stage area, the party was in full swing, with DJs dychu (center), cosplayer-turned-DJ Komugiko (right) and VJ Wan (left) spinning anime songs and Halloween remixes to scare up some fun.

Then, it was time for a zombie show courtesy of the PariPism staff, with DJ Maron on the mic.

We had to pull ourselves away from the dance floor since the zombies were very persistent, but somehow we managed to get back to the landing area where we joined the company of the more elaborately costumed (and thirsty) crowd at the bar counter.

Among the crowd was former member of Ebisu Muscats, adult video actress, tv personality, and DJ Nishino Show (holding the light stick).

We left Club Science behind and made our way to the most famous live music house in Shinjuku, Loft, where an amazing lineup of musicians were playing. Japanese rap group Public Musume were just finishing up their set with their popular single Ochin Gin Choudai, and then the sexy girls and boys of PariPism treated us to an encore performance, with music provided by charismatic PariPism organizer and DJ Mineoka:

As the club began filling in with more partygoers from all six clubs, one of the highlight guests of the evening, Miyako and the "unique skin" ishoku-hada girls, the current darlings of the fashion and subculture scene, put on their own show for the appreciative crowd:

Finally, the Paripism staff joined the Ishoku-hada girls on stage to close the set.

Speaking with organizer Mineoka after the event, she assured us that Kabukicho Halloween Music Circuit would be a regular event from now on, so you can look forward to joining in the fun next year! Just be sure to follow the official twitter account or their website for updates.
