A surprising amount of delicious Japanese food can be found at chain restaurants, with things like all-you-can-eat sushi and Denny's with traditional Japanese food menus waiting for starving stomachs around many a corner. Japanese family restaurant and cafe Gusto is one of the more popular chains, featuring a reasonably priced and ample menu. Their meat-themed variety, Steak Gusto, however, is offering up a chance at a flavor combination not usually encountered in the form of uni and steak.

Steak Gusto started the "Uni and Steak Fair" event on December 21st, and while it will only run until January 15th, the unique combination that is advertised as a voluminous alternative to sushi might gain enough traction to become a regular event. Cuts available include lean cuts of filet and ichibo (rare, marbled cut of the thigh) paired with "double servings" of uni. Additional 30 gram servings of uni are available for 300 yen should you need more for your filet (130 grams) or ichibo steak (225 grams).

Steak Gusto's teppanyaki menu also includes a salad bar that features all you can eat bread, curry, soup, and salad, so there are plenty of other ways to fill up. While the fair is currently a limited event, all Steak Gustos in Japan are currently running the vent. More information can be seen here.
