Matcha, Matcha, Matcha... It seems we just can't get enough of that rich, green ambrosia.

The global popularity of matcha has encouraged Japanese service-providers to up the ante for the inbound crowd, creating new products, new collaborations and new services galore featuring the concentrated green tea powder for the enjoyment of foreign tourists.

Thus, it was only a matter of time before the Westin Tokyo, famous for its luxurious dessert buffets, caught on to the trend.

From May 1st to June 29th, hotel guests and matcha-loving visitors will be able to satisfy their craving as well as their sweet tooth thanks to the "Matcha Dessert Buffet."

But don't just take our word for it! Go ahead and take a gander at the gamut of glorious matcha creations they have in store for you...

According to executive Pastry Chef Kazuo Suzuki who masterminded the Westin Tokyo's first ever matcha-exclusive dessert buffet, "the charm of matcha lies in its fragrance and bitterness." Therefore, in order to create a medley of matcha desserts that delight the palate without becoming monotonous, for each dessert, he focused on achieving just the right balance between the matcha and the other ingredients.

For example, their matcha fondant combining thyme and matcha for a fragrance that evokes the fresh greenery of early summer; their strawberry and raspberry trifle blending together the refreshing tartness of red berries with the soft bitterness of matcha; or their matcha tiramisu and their matcha Mont Blanc. Each of these desserts convey the sense of wabi sabi in their aesthetic appeal and deep flavor.
