You work one-on-one with another human being and the object is to make them feel so much better and to look at themselves with a twinkle in their eye – VS #DoSomethingForNothing ?? I haven't had it cut for so long" She tries to stay positive and see the best in situations but said – "When you get people who are just downright nasty it's hard, you get some people who shout and tell you that you'd be better of just being dead and to get a job, it's time like that which you hate being out here, sometimes a smile makes all the difference" During her haircut we learnt that she has now met somebody new, and she's very happy. He's 6 foot 2 and Dreamy!"She told us the story of last Christmas which she described as the best she had had for years. "My partners family invited us in off the streets for Christmas, we had a proper Chirstmas dinner and I even got a couple of presents, it was our first Christmas together. We have been together for 13 months now and having a relationship out here is hard, it's tough, each day there are things which happen, sometimes really bad things which make it hard to be happy with each other but we try our best". ??@ireneconesa #DoSomethingForNothing #WWIM13London A photo posted by Joshua Coombes (@joshuacoombes) on Apr 25, 2016 at 10:55am PDT "Whatever we send out comes back to us. Luke has been homeless on the streets of Melbourne for six months. He used to work in logistics, doing the 9-5 like many others living their city lives here. Luke didn't get on with his boss and got the sack from his job for a difference in opinion one day. After trying to pick up any casual work he could in and around the city, it wasn't long before his pay check didn't match rent prices and that started this chapter in his life. Luke has no family here in Australia anymore after he lost his mother. His Father lives in New Zealand but they don't speak after an abusive relationship growing up. Luke's outlook on his current situation is so rational and positive. We chatted throughout the hair cut, he said – 'I look at this period as time to think for me, I actually feel like this will be a good thing one day' Luke taught himself how to make bracelets and necklaces to sell and told me he wakes up early each day and starts the day like he would at work with routine because he likes that. They are so intricate and amazing, I joked with him that he could probably plat hair way better than I can! If you see this handsome chap go and say hi. He told me I made his day with the haircut, he made mine. #DoSomethingForNothing A photo posted by Joshua Coombes (@joshuacoombes) on Mar 20, 2016 at 2:19am PDT This is Phil, 34 years old. Phil is best mates with Lee (previous post) They're both from Maidstone in Kent, south east of the U.K. I asked Phil what work he looked for when he first came to London – 'I'm a painter and decorator by trade and I'm a good at it. I really miss it to be honest. There just wasn't any steady work for me here. I tried to apply for other jobs to get by but this is the situation we're in now'. These guys stick together and have best friends for nearly twenty years, the last two of those spent sleeping rough in London. When I stopped to approach them both, they couldn't have been more welcoming. We sat down and chatted for about twenty minutes before I even mentioned I was a hairdresser and told them about @dosomethingfornothing || When I mentioned about getting their hair they were really excited but then expressions changed and Phil said 'We haven't had a shower in a few days though mate, our hair is dirty' That's the perfect time for a tidy up ??????. #DoSomethingForNothing A photo posted by Joshua Coombes (@joshuacoombes) on Jun 5, 2016 at 6:34pm PDT Most of you will recognise Darak. He was one of my first street clients when I started this a year ago. I always bump into Darak when I'm back in my hometown, Exeter. I've tried my best to follow his journey, watching him go through high and low points in his life and how homelessness has effected him. After a long struggle with addiction I'm really happy to say he's going into rehab very soon to make a new start. He has people around him that really care and I know he'll come out on the other side. I've got so much love for this man, he has a heart of gold and a great outlook on the world. His positivity and optimistic nature shine through to everyone he meets ???? I'm so sure that when he starts a new chapter he'll excel at anything he wants to do. It was great to hook him up with a fresh haircut before he goes away for a little while. Stay strong brother ???? #DoSomethingForNothing A photo posted by Joshua Coombes (@joshuacoombes) on May 29, 2016 at 9:01am PDT This is Darrel, 28. He was born in Eden, New South Wales. He came down to Melbourne in his early twenties and started his life here working in restaurants to earn his rent. Like a lot of us he was pretty much living paycheck by paycheck each week. One week there wasn't enough hours for him and this was the first step that led him to life on the streets. It's a cold realisation that so many of us living and working to get by are only a few steps away being in the same position ourselves. I asked Darrel if he ever goes back home to see his family, he replied – 'Not that much, I love my family, I have 5 sisters and brothers in different areas but I don't tell them my situation here, it's easier that way' The last time he went was Christmas. I find it incredibly sad the thought of Darrel sat around with his family not being able to be honest with them. A really humble, warm soul. I was fed off his relaxed, calm nature. He was moved by the idea of a free haircut and I couldn't have been happier to do so. The good news is Darrel has a place to stay temporarily at moment. He hopes to find work again and get back to a life he once knew. #dosomethingfornothing ?? #melbourne A photo posted by Joshua Coombes (@joshuacoombes) on Feb 28, 2016 at 12:42am PST 皆さん、髪を切る前と後では顔つきが違って見えますね。ヘアカット後は表情も自信に満ち溢れてきりっと凛々しく見えます。 Let your love shine wherever you are this week. I know that I hugely take for granted that important word, opportunity. At present he's still finding his feet in Paris and has been sleeping on the street or bunking with friends when he can.
